Geelong has blocks of every shape. The older parts of the city step down toward Corio Bay and the Barwon River, so homes in suburbs like Highton, Belmont and Newtown are often built on genuine slopes, while the newer estates to the south are mostly flatter lots that still carry a fall and a layer of topsoil. Either way, nothing gets built until the site is cut to a level, stable platform that matches the engineering.
A site cut from Select Civil Group starts with the levels on your engineer's plans. We strip the topsoil, bring the high side down with laser levels guiding the machine, use that material to build up the low side where the design allows, and compact the platform to the standard the engineer has set. Surplus spoil is carted away, so the builder or slab crew arrives to a clean pad rather than a mound of soil to work around.
Where the fall is too steep to simply cut and fill, the platform usually needs a retaining wall on one or more sides. We build those as well, so the cut and the wall are planned together instead of being passed between two contractors. Andrew is on site for the dig and the final level check, so it is always clear who is responsible for the result.
