Concrete Bench Drops

Concrete bench drops that manage level changes on sloped sites, creating flat, usable areas across Geelong and the Bellarine. Engineered transitions that hold and drain. Quotes back within 24 hours.

Turn a Slope into Usable Ground

Bench drops are used to manage level changes on sloped sites, creating flat, usable areas at different heights. Select Civil Group constructs concrete bench drops for residential and commercial properties throughout the Geelong region, providing stable, engineered transitions between different ground levels.

A properly built bench drop prevents erosion, manages water runoff, and creates usable space on land that would otherwise be difficult to develop. We work with your engineer to design and build bench drops that meet structural requirements, integrate with retaining walls and drainage systems, and provide long-term stability for the site.

Andrew is on the tools and on site throughout, so you deal directly with the person running the job from the first quote through to the final level check. No subbie chains, no chasing the office for an update. Most quotes come back within 24 hours of the site walk.

What We Build

From a single level transition to multi-drop solutions on steeply falling blocks, every job is quoted on the specifics of your site.

Level Transitions

Concrete bench drops that step a sloped site down in a controlled way, creating flat, usable areas at each level. Designed to the site's fall and the load they need to carry.

Erosion & Runoff Control

Bench drops that intercept water running down a slope, directing it to drainage rather than letting it carry soil. A key part of protecting a site that has significant fall.

Integrated Retaining

Bench drops designed to work alongside retaining walls where the fall is too great to handle with a single structure. The two systems are built together so they drain and perform as one.

Excavation and site preparation work on a sloped block before concrete placement

Site Prep & Drainage

Excavation, compaction and drainage installation before the concrete goes in. Getting the subbase right is what makes the finished bench drop hold its shape and drain correctly long term.

How a Job Runs

Quote to handover, the same six steps on every job. No surprises, no scope creep, no chasing for updates.

Step 01

Enquiry

Send the site address, a quick description of the work, and any plans or photos you have. The more we know, the sharper the quote.

Step 02

Site Walk

Andrew visits the block to check access, soil, levels and obstacles the photos do not show. Most quotes come back within 24 hours.

Step 03

Fixed Quote

Itemised, written and locked in. Drainage, spoil cartage and machinery are accounted for so there are no surprises at the end.

Step 04

Programmed Start

Confirmed start and finish dates that we hold to. We coordinate with your builder, engineer or following trades so the ground is ready when they are.

Step 05

On Site

Machine and operator on the ground, working to your engineer's specs. Daily check-ins with whoever is coordinating the build.

Step 06

Handover

Final levels checked, site cleaned, ready for the next stage. Our workmanship is covered for 12 months, and we are a phone call away.

Frequently Asked

The questions we get most about concrete bench drops.

A bench drop is a concrete step or series of steps built into a sloped site to create flat, usable areas at different levels. You need one when a slope is too steep to use as-is, when you need to establish a level building platform or usable yard area on a falling block, or when you need to manage water runoff and erosion on sloped ground. They are common on residential blocks, commercial sites and civil works where significant level changes need to be handled in a controlled way.

Cost depends on the number of levels, the height and width of each drop, site access, soil conditions, drainage requirements and whether integration with retaining walls or other structures is needed. Every site is different, and we quote on the specifics rather than giving a blanket rate. We provide an obligation-free written quote within 24 hours once we have the site details.

In most cases, yes. Concrete bench drops on sites with significant level changes, or where they are supporting a building platform or retaining material, will need to be designed by a structural engineer. We work with your engineer's drawings directly, or we can recommend an engineer we have worked with locally and coordinate the design process from the start.

Most bench drop jobs run from a few days to around two weeks depending on the number of levels, the volume of excavation required and the complexity of the drainage and retaining integration. We confirm a programmed start and finish date as part of the quote so you can plan around the work.

We build concrete bench drops across Geelong, the Bellarine Peninsula, Torquay and the surrounding regions, including Ocean Grove, Leopold, Drysdale, Barwon Heads and Point Lonsdale. If you are in the region and not sure whether we come to you, just ask.

Yes. Select Civil Group carries full public liability insurance and workers compensation cover on every job. Certificates of currency are available on request.
